These healthy homemade ferrero rocher balls are so delicious, made with wholesome ingredients, and simply irresistible! They are super easy to make and will remind you of the beloved ferrero rocher that we all know and love. Chocolate and hazelnuts are just a match made in heaven and I could not stop eating these homemade ones!

Made with only 6 ingredients (not counting salt), you can eat these homemade ferrero rocher balls for a pre or post workout snack, dessert, or when you are just craving something sweet. I used medjool dates to sweeten them and a touch of pure maple syrup. They are much healthier than the classic ferrero rocher, but in my opinion, just as tasty and so addicting!

I love how wholesome the ingredients are and how these little balls pack such a nutritional punch! They are packed with healthy fats, protein, and fiber. Also, they are vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar free, and oil-free! Talk about a nutrient dense snack or treat! All you need is your food processor and you can whip these babies up in just a few minutes!

If you make them, please tag me @nutsaboutgreens on Instagram so I can see your creations! They are the perfect dessert for Valentine’s Day coming up too!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup roasted hazelnuts
  • 12 medjool dates, pitted
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 3 tbsp cashew butter
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp water
  • 15 whole hazelnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Add roasted hazelnuts to a food processor. Process until hazelnuts are chopped into small pieces. Remove 1/4 cup and save for later (rolling the balls in).
  • Add the pitted dates, cacao powder, cashew butter, maple syrup, salt, and vanilla. Pulse until mixture is combined thoroughly. Add 1 tsp of water and pulse until ingredients stick together and sticky dough ball forms.
  • Scoop about 1.5 Tbsp of dough (I used my 1.5 Tbsp cookie scoop) into your hand and press one whole hazelnut in the center. Roll dough into a ball around it. You don’t have to stick a hazelnut in the center, it just makes it more like a ferrero rocher. Repeat until all dough is used up. I got about 15 balls.
  • Roll each ball in the chopped pieces of hazelnuts from earlier that you set aside. Set on a plate and place in the fridge for 1 hour to set. Enjoy! Store in the fridge for a week or the freezer for longer.
Servings: 15 balls
