Easy Chili Crisp String Beans (vegan, gluten-free)
This easy chili crisp string beans is my favorite way to cook green beans. It tastes like restaurant quality, but made at home and with less oil. The spicy chili crisp paired with the soft yet crunchy green beans is so delicious. Serve it with some steamed rice and you got yourself a yummy meal.
Growing up, my parents always ordered string beans when we went out to eat. It was my dad’s favorite and you can always judge a restaurant by how good their string beans were. My mom would make the best string beans at home. I remember my mom would make me sit and trim all the green beans for her. It was my least favorite thing to do, but it always tasted so good after she cooked them. String beans are nostalgic to me and this easy chili crisp version is my go-to.
You only need 6 ingredients to make this chili crisp string beans. I used the classic Laoganma spicy chili crisp for this recipe. You can find it at any Asian grocery store or even some American stores as well. Don’t skim on the garlic too. Garlic is essential in any string bean recipe. All you have to do is saute everything in a wok and serve it with some rice. It’s super easy to make and so flavorful!

- 2 tbsp avocado oil (or olive oil)
- 1/2 yellow onion, diced

- 1 1/2 pounds string beans, ends trimmed
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (if GF, use tamari)

Instructions
- Heat a wok on medium high heat and add the oil. Then add the onions. Saute for 5 minutes or until they turn translucent.
- Add the garlic and saute for 1 more minute. Add the string beans and saute until tender but not soggy, about 5-7 minutes. You can add 1 Tbsp of water to help soften the beans a little.
