This orange cranberry apple crisp is a holiday twist on my most favorite dessert! I absolutely love orange with cranberries and adding the apples is so delicious. It’s the perfect dessert to make for the holidays that everyone will love.

You all know my favorite dessert is this amazing apple crisp. Actually, I’m a sucker for any fruit crisp, so I had to make a festive orange cranberry apple crisp. It came out so dang tasty with the juicy sweet apples, tart cranberries, and a hint of orange. The granola like topping is probably my favorite part. All the textures together make for a wonderful dessert to serve on your Christmas table.

This crisp is also made with good for you ingredients and is healthier than your average fruit crisp or pie. It is completely vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar free too. I love a wholesome dessert that tastes delicious. It only takes one bowl to make and will make your house smell so good!

Prep Time:20 minutes
Cook Time:50 minutes
Total Time:1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs apples after being peeled, cored, and sliced thinly (about 5 apples)
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar, depending on the sweetness of your apples (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 orange zested
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder

Topping

  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil (or melted vegan butter)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a large pie pan or cast iron skillet and set aside.
  • In a very large bowl, add the prepared apples, cranberries, cinnamon, ginger, coconut sugar, vanilla, orange zest, orange juice, and cornstarch. Stir with a spatula or spoon until everything is evenly combined. Add the mixture into the greased skillet or pie pan. Make sure it’s packed in there. It will shrink after it’s baked and cooled.
  • In that same bowl, add all the topping ingredients. Stir until well combined. Sprinkle topping evenly over the top of the apples/cranberries. Use your hands to press/pack it down.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, until apples are tender when poked with a fork or knife and the topping is golden brown. Mine took about 55 minutes.
  • Let it cool for one hour before serving. Enjoy warm with some ice cream on top! Although best when fresh, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds or until warm.
